Biography
Yun Tian received his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Mississippi August 2013, with dissertation having been advised by Dr. Philip J. Rhodes. He joined the Department of Computer Science at Eastern Washington University in 2013 as an Assistant Professor. Before a Ph.D., he earned his B.S. from Fudan University in Computer Information Management 2006 and M.S. from Shanghai Teachers University in Computer Science 2008. Yun Tian's former industry experiences include 3 years of system testing in Automatic Train Control systems 1999 through 2002. In 2009, he worked as a research assistant at National Center for Physical Acoustics, responsible for data acquisition and processing. In addition, he interned at FNC Inc. summer 2012 and worked with large Spatio-temporal dataset.
Research Interest
Dr. Yun Tian research interests include Grid and Cloud computing, parallel computing, GPGPU computing and Big Data. Dr. Tian teaches Parallel and Cloud Computing and GPU Computing courses on both undergraduate and graduate levels. He also teaches two gateway and core courses: C and Unix programming, Data Structures and Algorithms. Dr. Tian is a recipient of Amazon Education Faculty Grant, Amazon Research Grant, EWU Creative Work Summer Grant and EWU SSB Grant.
